As a relaxing treat before welcoming Baby Hutcho to the family in a couple short months, my mum travelled up from Adelaide to join me for a beautiful pre-baby retreat in Byron Bay!

It's been a busy few months for Mahiya, so it was such a luxury to take a short road trip south to one of my favourite areas of Australia and enjoy some much needed pampering in a gorgeous natural setting.

The level of service from every single staff member completely blew us away, and we couldn't get over how helpful and friendly everyone was. It definitely made the retreat that much more memorable.

The daily brekkie buffet was also super delicious - we wanted to eat everything! We took plenty of walks throughout the property, including along their rainforest boardwalk, and had plenty of time to relax in the pool area, which was so pretty and serene.

Finally, we got to experience the spa! I requested a special pregnancy massage, which was the perfect way to unwind and end the retreat on a soothing note.

Shopping, Eating & Places to See in Byron Bay

There's plenty of activities and points of interest to keep you entertained in Byron, but some of our favourite areas and shops are listed below.

The Lighthouse

The most iconic landmark of Byron is the Lighthouse. Located at the most easterly point of Australia, this is the perfect place to whale watch in winter months, and enjoy a coffee while looking out over the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

Wategos Beach

Located just northwest of the lighthouse, Wategos Beach is often protected from strong wind, making it one of the best places to enjoy a relaxing sunbathing session on the beach, a romantic picnic or beachy outing with friends. Don't forget your sunscreen!

The Farm

If you appreciate healthy, farm-fresh food and want a unique experience in Byron, head to The Farm to enjoy yummy pastries and brekkie treats from their produce store, take a guided or self-guided farm tour, watch the kiddos play at their onsite playground, and even browse their seedlings to start your own garden at home!

The Beach Hotel

A centralised hangout and perfect place to enjoy a cocktail with a view, The Beach Hotel offers specialised entertainment such as moonlight movie nights, live music performances, daily food specials and more.

Balcony Bar & Oyster Co.

One of the most romantic and atmospheric bars in Byron, the Balcony Bar & Oyster Co. serves up a splendid assortment of fresh oysters, tapas, classic cocktails and an extensive wine menu.

Spell & The Gypsy Collective

Visit Spell's beautiful flagship store in Byron Bay, and shop their gorgeous range of bohemian wears, from swimsuits to maxis and more.

Arnhem

Another local favourite, be sure to browse the collections at Arnhem Clothing and go home with an Australian souvenir.

Mister Zimi

One of our favourite colourful brands, Mister Zimi showcases an amazing assortment of bold prints and stunning silhouettes.
