2017 Bohemian Travel Guide

Aruba

"Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya, Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama!" You know the rest.

Dubbed 'One Happy Island,' Aruba is part of the ABC Islands, consisting of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, located in the always lovely Caribbean. With white sand, friendly people and desert-like conditions throughout much of the flat, windy island, it's a paradise for those seeking sunshine, scuba diving and plenty of cocktails under the shade of a palapa.

Grab a bowl of the calco stoba (stewed conch) at The Old Cunucu House, get lost on a beach-scouting drive through the island, spend your afternoons browsing the assortment of local shops and markets and thank us later.

Annecy, France

For good reason, France is well known as one of the most scenic and cultured countries in the world. But unlike it's much larger, more popular big sister of Paris, Annecy offers a different kind of charm, perfect for wandering gypsies seeking their fill of southern France scenery.

With a winding canal set amongst brightly coloured, gingerbread looking houses and gelato shops, there's not much to dislike about this cozy, welcoming town. Take a boat ride around the crystal clear lake (bonus: castle watching!), hop on a hot air balloon, sample some authentic French cheese, and tour the many shops around the town before heading back home to enjoy a glass of wine with the mountains as a backdrop!

Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica

If you love five star resorts, bugless environments and cool breezes, leave now because you're in the wrong spot.

Located in the Limon Province of southern Costa Rica, Puerto Viejo is only a short bus ride from the famed Sloth Sanctuary, offering plenty of relaxed beach bars, Caribbean music, surf spots and yoga studios for those who venture to this hip boho hangout.

Grab your swimsuit and SPF, and hit the road for some solid Costa Rican goodness!

New Orleans, Louisiana

Delicious food, street parades, brass bands and southern hospitality? Count us in!

Head to the French Quarter to enjoy piping hot beignets and an afternoon palm reading, or let your ears lead you to Frenchmen Street to hear some of the loudest and best bands in the bayou. Shop for local goodies at the Frenchmen Art Market, and be sure book your trip to coincide with one of the many excellent parades and festivals for the ultimate NOLA experience.

Though less tends to be more with most destinations, in New Orleans, more is more. Go with it.

Austin, Texas

Only an 8 hour drive from New Orleans, add this Texan gem to your travel wish list. With music festivals like SXSW and ACL, and must-dos like the Alamo Drafthouse Movie Theater and assortment of top notch Tex Mex restaurants, it's no wonder the secret is out about Austin.

In warmer months, don't miss taking a dip in Barton Springs Pool and seeing live music at Blues on the Green, and every trip requires a tour to some of the most unusual and funky thrift stores in the States, including those on the popular strip of South Congress, to smaller, less obvious attractions such as the Cathedral of Junk.

Whatever you do, just remember to keep it weird.
